SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – Rescue One is asking for help. The agency is going to take on 60 dogs from a Christian County man.
He called them and said his collection got a little out of hand. We’re told the dogs are being fed and given water.
However, the cost of caring for so many dogs has become too great for the man. So, the agency is asking for help from the public and other organizations in Missouri and in neighboring states.
Rescue One says the problem started with the owner’s refusal to spay and neuter the pets.
“It’s so important to have that done,” said Michele Rhekop with Rescue One. “Because dogs can produce litters pretty quickly. And if you have more than one female, you can get more than one litter at the same time. And if they’re having litters of 10, or more at a time that can quickly add up real fast.“
Rescue One says it also desperately needs more fosters. If you have the ability and you want to learn how you can help with fostering, check out Rescue One’s website, right here.
