When the team at Stray Rescue of St. Louis (SRSL) saw a photo of a dog lying on a pile of wood, their hearts immediately broke. Accompanying the image were just four chilling words: “Dog shot, needs help.” Without hesitation, Cassady, one of the rescuers, stepped up. “Bring me that baby,” she said, determined to save the pup. A Good Samaritan had stayed by the dog’s side, waiting for help to arrive. Soon, the rescue team arrived and carefully lifted the frightened dog off the wooden heap and transported her to safety.

The team named the dog Propeller. They knew she was injured, but the extent of her condition wasn’t clear until they reached SRSL’s veterinary hospital. As they worked to comfort her, they remained hopeful that her injuries wouldn’t be life-threatening. The vet team quickly assessed her condition and discovered that the gunshot wound, while serious, had miraculously avoided major damage. Shrapnel was embedded in her leg, but it had missed her vital organs, spine, and knee joint. Propeller’s injuries, while painful, were treatable.

She underwent surgery to remove the shrapnel, and the operation was a success. Propeller’s recovery began almost immediately. “[T]his gunshot victim is sooo lucky to not have lasting injuries,” SRSL wrote on Facebook, calling her survival a true miracle. From the moment she arrived at the rescue, Propeller’s kind and loving nature began to shine, despite the trauma she had endured.

“She’s about 2 years old and a total love bug,” SRSL shared. Though shaken by her ordeal, Propeller found comfort in the affection showered on her by the team. Within weeks, she was back on her feet, regaining her strength and rediscovering her playful personality. Now, she spends her days running and playing with other dogs at the shelter.

Propeller is thriving in foster care, but the team knows she’s ready for the next chapter of her life. They hope to find her a forever home where she can enjoy the comfort of a cozy bed, bask in sunny spots, and receive endless love from her new family. Her friends at SRSL have no doubt that Propeller’s perfect match is out there.

He pretended to be a Veterinarian. It's not a surprise to learn that at least one dog has already been confirmed dead as a result of his fraudulent veterinary work. On top of that, he kept multiple dogs locked up improperly without any food or water.

“THIS dog here is the epitome of love,” SRSL wrote. “She is kind, she is gracious and so perfect [and] easy-going.” Until her adoption day arrives, Propeller will continue to bring joy to everyone she meets, proving that even in the face of adversity, love and resilience prevail.
