HOUSTON (KIAH) — Anyone who’s familiar with Rescued Pets Movement will know that it is known for rescuing hundreds of dogs and cats from area shelters. RPM helps reduce the number of homeless animals euthanized at BARC (Houston’s City Shelter) and other shelters by transporting thousands of homeless animals to other areas of the U.S where there is demand.
Due to last Thursday’s storm, the RPM facility got significant damage to the roof, their clinic and boarding facility and clinic. 21 dogs and 22 cats were moved out of the facility due to the damage and power outages. The majority of the roof will likely need to be replaced and though as of now, pets have been moved back in, they have power and air conditioning, there are still leaks in the roof that need repair.
RPM is asking for help for repairs that may not be covered by insurance and for supplies for the animals. If interested in fostering or donating, visit the website here. There is also an Amazon wish list if you’d like to directly purchase desperately needed items here.
Sadly, it’s not just Rescued Pets Movement that needs help from the community after the storm. Here is a list of resources for families and their pets as well as other places that need donations:
