Instances of pet-related disputes are not uncommon in the Delhi-NCR region, but in some cases, these rifts get out of hand and lead to intense verbal spats or turn physically violent.

The officer was entering the lift, and the lady was holding her pet dog inside. The officer asked her not to carry her dog in the same lift, which led to the whole episode.

Further in the video, another man, in white t-shirt, who is seemingly the woman's husband, could also be seen beating the retired IAS officer in retaliation.

What authorities have said about incident

A formal complaint regarding this incident was lodged with the Noida police, and a probe is underway.

Police Commissionerate Gautam Buddh Nagar wrote on X that there has been a dispute regarding taking the dog in the lift, adding that according to preliminary information, there was physical fight from both the parties.

“There has been a dispute regarding taking the dog in the lift. Talks are being held with both the parties, ACP-1 Noida Maya police station in-charge is at the spot. According to preliminary information, there has been a fight between both the parties, CCTV is being observed… after investigation, necessary action will be taken,” Police Commissionerate Gautam Buddh Nagar's X post read.

Even after the Noida Authority has floated strict rules regarding pet registrations, such incidents have occurred time and again in the high-rises of Noida.

Moreover, the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) is determined to revise its dog policy owing to the rise in dog bite cases and complaints related to dog littering and other problems.

Lately, there has been a substantial rise in reports of disagreements between pet owners and society members, specifically involving pet dogs/cats roaming, defecating, barking, biting and more in public places. Aggression in pets, especially pet dogs, has turned out to be a growing concern among residents.
The feeding of stray dogs and their exclusion from societies is also a point of discord between animal lovers and residents.
