Rock for Rescues will feature live music, cars, and adoptable dogs to raise funds for local animal rescues.
SUNBURY, Pa. — It will be a day filled with live music, cars, raffle items and adoptable dogs. The second annual Rock for Rescues is Saturday, June 28 at Route 61 Events near Sunbury.
“WWE Wrestler Gene Snitsky and his wife will be joining us for autographs, and our headlining artist for the evening is Ron Keel. He's coming from South Dakota to do our concert,” Event Coordinator Mary Marquette said.
Rock for Rescues was organized by Mary and Dennis Marquette as a way to raise money for local animal rescues. The event starts at 8 a.m. with a breakfast buffet. There is a doggy kissing booth, a touch-a-truck, and a car show.
“The A-Team van, the General Lee from the Dukes of Hazzard, and then we will have some confederate motorcycles,” Marquette said.
All proceeds are split between Mommy and Me Rescue and Rescue Pets Serving Vets.
“That's a lot of food, electricity, a lot of heating, cooling. That money goes so far and helps us get those dogs the homes they need and allows us to supply the companions for the veterans who served our country,” Connor Shonis of Rescue Pets Serving Vets said.
“A lot of dogs that come in really need the extra help, so this money is going to help us continue to give them the care that they need for all the dogs that come in,” Ashley Casari of Mommy and Me Rescue said.
Last year's event raised around $8,000 for the two animal rescues. Rock for Rescues is Saturday, June 28th.
