Meyer’s Tails Up Farm will again host Dog’s Day Out this year on Sunday, June 8, at their place in Belvidere. The event is free to attend.

Meyer’s Tails Up Farm is once again opening its gates for Dog’s Day Out, a free community event for dog lovers, held Sunday, June 8, from 1 to 4 p.m. at 5390 Irene Road in Belvidere.

Area residents are encouraged to bring their dogs – all breeds and sizes are welcome – and enjoy an afternoon of fun, learning, and celebration. Dogs must be on a standard 6-foot leash – no retractable leashes.

Families and their four-legged companions can look forward to an unforgettable afternoon filled with tail-wagging fun and engaging activities. Guests can watch thrilling demonstrations by the Belvidere Police and Illinois State Police K-9 units, chat with Meyer’s expert trainers and groomers, and meet therapy dogs while learning about the UW Health Caring Canine program.

Pups can take a dip in the pool, race down the Fast CAT lure course, try their paw at a rally course, sniff out hidden scents in a nose work activity, or explore a playful field of obstacles and agility challenges. Humans can enjoy live DJ entertainment, explore local shopping featuring all things dog, and indulge in tasty treats from food trucks – including dog-friendly ice cream from Lil Scoop.

Free family and pet photo ops will be available, and guests are invited to tour the scenic 18-acre Meyer’s Tails Up Farm and learn more about its doggy daycare offerings. As a special treat, Rockford’s beloved Canine Crunchery will be making a heartfelt return for the day.

In addition, guests are invited to make a cash donation to benefit the Belvidere Police Department K-9 Unit. One hundred percent of donations go directly to the care of these service dogs. Every donor will receive a spin on the prize wheel for a chance to win fabulous gifts.

Kent and Gwen Meyer are the owners of Meyer’s Tails Up Farm in Belvidere, Meyer’s Canine Colony in Roscoe, and Meyer’s Animal House in DeForest, Wis.   For over 30 years, the Meyer family has been known for providing luxury lodging, grooming, doggie daycare and obedience classes for dogs and cats in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin.

“Dogs thrive on both physical and mental enrichment,” says Gwen. “Dog’s Day Out is a fun way for families to bond with their pets and explore new ways to keep them happy, healthy, and engaged.”
