ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – An early morning house fire displaces a family of three and their dog on Sunday.
According to a press release from the Rockford Fire Department, arrived to the 3900 block of Modesto Dr. for a “fully involved” attached garage fire.
At 5:10 a.m., a total of 24 firefighters commenced suppression efforts. The response required 3 engines, 2 ladders, 2 ambulances and 2 district chiefs.
The press release states firefighters rescued a “small dog” from the home. Its family transported the pet to a local veterinary clinic for emergency treatment.
No injuries are reported, but the American Red Cross will assist the displaced residents.
Rockford Fire notes this is the second incident where first responders rescued a dog from separate fires in a 12 hour period.
Officials estimate the home suffered around $80,000 in damages.
An investigation is underway to determine an official cause of the Modesto Dr. fire, but the release calls it “accidental” so far.
