Stunning sausage dogs will strut their stuff around Muckross Gardens in Killarney on Sunday, June 22 which, as it happens, is World Dachshund Day.
It will resemble a spectacular parade of hot dogs as the cute canines and their owners gather for their second Sausage Dog Social Walking Club from 11.00am.
The little Dachshunds from all over Kerry and beyond will get the opportunity to meet and greet their peers and the excitement is sure to set tails wagging.
Their first organised outing in April was a fabulous and fun day that attracted 40 dogs, some travelling to Killarney from as far away as Sneem and Ballyvourney.
Organised by dog lovers Mary O’Carroll and Gina Lawlor, the stroll Muckross will be specially designed for the short-legged, long-bodied, hounds whose shape has earned them comparison with sausages.
They come smooth-haired, wire-haired or long-haired but they are adorable little pets that always draw gaps of admiration and petting requests when they are out and about.
Mary – whose delightful Dachshund Bloom will lead the walk – said there is already a WhatsApp group for sausage dogs from all over Kerry but this will be only their outing together.
