EMPORIA, KAN. — KVOE News reported a fire at Simmons Pet Food’s facility in Emporia on Jan. 1.
According to KVOE, Emporia Fire was sent to the facility around 1 a.m. following sights of smoke and a fire alarm. The response was then upgraded to a structure fire after 1:30 a.m.
The fire crew identified the source of the fire to be a light that had melted and fell on papers and other materials. The fire crew spent more than an hour containing the fire and investigating the cause, reported KVOE.
According to the report, Lainie Button, director of brand and engagement at Simmons Pet Food, said there was limited damage to the facility’s quality assurance (QA) lab area. Simmons does not expect that the fire will impact production schedule. No injuries were reported.
