Spanish pet food manufacturer launches in India

NEW DELHI — On Oct. 23, companion animal health company Scientific Remedies launched pet food brand Affinity Advance, the flagship brand of Affinity Petcare, in India. The launch is part of a collaboration between Scientific Remedies and Affinity Petcare, which aims to provide the “best quality pet food” to pet parents throughout India, according to the companies.

Based in Spain, Affinity Petcare boasts more than 50 years of experience in pet food manufacturing. The company’s brands include Affinity Advance, Nature’s Variety, Natural Trainer, Ultima and others. Affinity Advance specializes in super-premium, therapeutic nutrition, including formulas specifically designed for clinical health conditions in pets.

“With the growing adoption of pets in India, it has become imperative for pet parents and vets to have access to solutions that address pet care needs,” said Rakesh Mohan, executive director of Scientific Remedies. “We are pleased to introduce the world’s 6th largest pet food brand, Affinity Petcare, that will offer best-in-class products to Indian pet parents and vets. As veterans in the animal health industry, we offer a wide product mix in the pet foods and pet healthcare segment. With this exclusive partnership with Affinity Petcare, we aim to bolster our offering in the fast-growing super premium pet food market.”

In the first phase of the launch, Scientific Remedies will distribute Affinity Advance’s Veterinary Diets formulas to veterinary clinics, chemists, and vet-partnered pet retailers throughout India. In the second phase, Scientific Remedies will launch Affinity Petcare’s other pet food brands throughout India.

Overall, the introduction of Affinity Petcare to India aligns with the company’s goal to become a market leader in the Indian clinical pet nutrition market by 2029. According to the company, the move will also allow it to command over 20% of market share in the pet food industry by 2033.

“India is one of the fastest growing major pet food markets in the world,” said Jordi Garriga, international markets director at Affinity Petcare. “Affinity Petcare is proud to partner with Scientific Remedies to provide the best quality pet food that Affinity has to offer to pet parents in the Indian subcontinent. Our collaborative efforts aim at transforming the pet care industry in India. We are certain that this partnership will give us a strong footing in the India market and the desired scale.”
