The SPCA Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare is thrilled to announce Aiken’s Top Dog – a fun, feel-good competition that celebrates dogs, community spirit, and the power of giving back.
Even more exciting? We're teaming up with the dog-loving folks at Good Girl Brewing Company for the live fall competition on October 4. This one-of-a-kind partnership is rooted in a shared love for dogs and the life-changing connections they bring.
Good Girl Brewing Company, owned by Rachael and Andrew Phifer, was inspired by their beloved rescue dog, Kate, adopted from the SPCA Albrecht Center in 2014. Kate’s joy, loyalty, and boundless spirit sparked a philosophy the couple has since built into their business: “Work hard. Do good. Enjoy life.” That mantra, and Kate’s memory, now lives on in every pour at Aiken’s newest craft brewery.
“What we got from Kate was far more than we ever expected,” said Rachael. “Our entire ethos at Good Girl, ‘Work hard. Do good. Enjoy life,’ is based off of dogs. We think that dogs make us better people. And as people, we can do more with our animals.”
With that powerful belief in mind, Good Girl Brewing Co. has joined forces with the SPCA Albrecht Center to support pet adoption, raise funds for homeless animals and create a community space that celebrates the joy of dogs.
Aiken’s Top Dog is a peer-to-peer fundraising competition kicking off on May 1, where dog lovers can create personalized online profiles for their pups, share photos, fun facts, and stories. Each dollar raised through their profile equals one vote, and every vote helps support the lifesaving programs of the SPCA Albrecht Center.
Throughout the summer, participants will rally their friends, family, and coworkers to vote for their dogs while raising critical funds for animals in need. Then, on October 4, the top 15 fundraising pups will be invited to compete live at Good Girl Brewing Co. in a series of light-hearted, interactive challenges.
