PALMYRA, WIS. — On Jan. 17, Standard Process’s pet supplement brand Spirited Paw introduced its new product: Probiotic + Gut Health. Formulated with biotics, the new supplement is specifically designed to support digestive and immune health in both cats and dogs by targeting the microbiome.
Spirited Paw’s Probiotic + Gut Health contains probiotic strains Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium animalis, probiotic yeast Saccharomyces boulardii, and postbiotic EpiCor®, which is known for its immune health properties. Additionally, the supplement contains a natural prebiotic and inulin to support a balanced microbiome, as well as psyllium husk to normalize stool consistency.
“Similar to Standard Process® human supplements, our mission with Spirited Paw® is to positively change the lives of pets,” said Katrina Verdeur, product development manager for Pet Products at Standard Process. “There is the general understanding that probiotic products can positively benefit the health of dogs and cats. However, different strains of probiotics have different effects. We are excited to bring forward a probiotic solution formulated with strains specifically researched in dogs and cats, at potencies required to address immediate gut health needs, encourage a healthy inflammatory response and promote long-term wellness.”
According to Standard Process, the new supplement offers more than 7 billion CFUs of probiotics per capsule. The company chose a capsule format to help ensure the protection of the live probiotic strains. The format also provides pet parents flexibility with serving, as the product can be administered in its capsule form or opened and sprinkled on top a pet’s food.
In addition to its functional, biotic ingredients, Probiotic + Gut Health is also formulated with organic buckwheat extract, which is cultivated at Standard Process’s certified organic farm.
Similar to Spirited Paw’s other products, this new supplement is manufactured in Standard Process’s human supplement facility and held to the same standards as its human products.
Spirited Paw’s Probiotic + Gut Health supplement is currently available via the brand’s e-commerce platform.
