Say “hey” to Squid! This delightful and adorable Catahoula Leopard Dog pup is just two months old, and newly arrived at Lowell Humane Society. Volunteers report she is – predictably – full of high energy and eager to receive training “to help her grow into her best self.” CLDs are the only dog known to have originated in the state of Louisiana.
According to the American Kennel Club, “the breed requires firm guidance and early socialization, as they can be independent, territorial, and protective.” They are excellent working dogs and loyal companions. This breed comes in a wide variety of colors and patterns (coats and eyes). “Catahoula” originates from a Choctaw word meaning “sacred lake.” Squid’s new human or family should have familiarity with the breed.
