Street Dog Coalition helps Durango seniors

I work at an affordable housing apartment complex for seniors. When I saw that the Street Dog Coalition provides veterinary services I was intrigued. Street Dog Coalition provides these services to low income and people at risk of homelessness.

Seniors are at risk for loneliness and isolation. Not only does having a pet give them companionship, it also increases exercise for seniors, allowing them to age at home and prevent dementia and Alzheimer’s.

Since many of the residents in our building do not have transportation, I contacted the Street Dog Coalition. Not only did they agree to do free veterinary services such as well checks, vaccinations and medications for the residents’ furry companions, they also came to our building so that the transportation barrier was eliminated.

Our residents appreciated their professionalism, kindness and traveling to them. If you are looking for an organization to donate to, please consider Street Dog Coalition.
