Kottayam: A suspected drug peddler who escaped after letting his dogs loose on police during a search operation to check suspected sale of narcotics was nabbed from Tamil Nadu. Robin George, 29, was nabbed from Tenkasi five days later after the incident on Friday at Kumaranalloor in Kottayam.
On September 24, the Anti-Narcotics squad of the Kottayam police was attacked by a pack of violent dogs that were allegedly trained to attack anyone wearing ‘khaki’. Robin, who let loose the violent dogs, had escaped during the melee. The squad arrived at his pet hostel and dog training centre based on a tip-off regarding ganja sale from the location.
The police, who finally managed to control the dogs which included pitbulls and German Shepherds among other breeds, seized 17 kg of ganja from the dog training centre.

Police said that Robin was engaged in drug sales under the pretext of running the pet centre. According to police, Robin had learned dog training from a retired BSF personnel. However, he threw him out after the BSF official started raising questions about why the dogs were being trained to attack khaki-wearing persons.
Since Robin was not using a mobile phone, it was tough for police to track his movement after he escaped. The police managed to zero in on Robin after they got a tip-off from his father, who had a friend at Tenkasi.
The accused is being interrogated at Gandhi Nagar police station in Kottayam. Robin reportedly denied any involvement in ganja sales and accused his staff of bringing it to his pet centre.
