Terminally Ill Mom Obsessed with ‘Bambi’ Receives a Special Visit from a Real-Life Deer

Animals have a remarkable way of bringing joy and comfort to people, especially during tough times. For those nearing the end of life, the companionship of a beloved animal can mean the world.

This heartwarming tale is about a woman in palliative care who received a special visit from her favorite animal—a real-life deer.

Lisa McDonald and her sister were caring for their ailing mother, whose health was declining. Eager to make her final days memorable, they thought about her lifelong love for the classic Disney movie, Bambi.

“She has Bambi statues everywhere, she is wearing a Bambi T-shirt in her bed,” Lisa wrote in a Facebook post in the group The Kindness Pandemic. “My sister and I and the rest of the family that are supporting us are also wearing Bambi T-shirts… we are calling them our nursing uniforms.”

As their mother’s condition worsened, the family decided to surprise her with a visit from an actual deer—bringing Bambi to life right before her eyes!

When the deer entered the room, the elderly woman was overjoyed and couldn’t believe her eyes.

The deer, fittingly named “Bambi,” came from a petting farm owned by a couple named Chris and Simone. They had rescued the orphaned deer and raised it themselves.

Lisa mentioned that Chris and Simone made a special trip, driving two hours from Melbourne “out of pure love and kindness” just to bring happiness to her mother. “I cannot thank them enough for what they have done for my mum and my family,” Lisa wrote.

The visit was truly special. From her bed, the mother gently petted the real-life Bambi, creating a touching moment that the family will always cherish.

It’s evident how much Bambi and deer have meant to this woman’s life. The visit was a highlight of her final days, filling her heart with joy.

Her daughter shared that her mother’s love for Bambi will stay with her until the very end, noting that she will be cremated wearing one of her Bambi shirts.
