The gentleman’s game! Golf is known under that moniker for a reason. However, there arise instances when these so-called ‘gentlemen’ themselves prove to be unworthy of the title. And that is exactly what has happened at the Chardon Lakes Golf Course as a golfer engaged in a bizarre act of violence against a dog.

A tweet was shared by NUCLR GOLF that included a message from the dog’s owner looking for help, along with a picture of the injured pet, Milo. The write-up basically narrates the incident that took place when a golfer trespassed into their yard to retrieve a ball. Seeing this, a friendly Milo approached him, only to get whacked on the left side of his head with a golf club.

This brutal act of violence resulted in Milo suffering from a bleeding nose and the inability to open his eyes. Fortunately, a visit to the vet cleared him of any life-threatening issues. Adding on, the owner divulged how neither the golf course nor any of the golfers that the cops contacted are willing to take responsibility. Consequently, they ended the message with a plea to share any information on “a guy hitting a dog while playing Chardon Lakes.”

Although the post shared on the news handle on X didn’t rake in any new information as of now, the inhuman act towards the little defenseless being brought the attention of the true ‘gentlemen’ of the game, who came forward to root for the owner and Milo. Moreover, they even went ahead to condemn the actions of the perpetrator online.

Attack on Milo sparks outrage in the golf world

There have been many instances over time in which golfers accidentally hurt animals or birds that enter or live on the grounds. Sometimes, the golf balls, after being hit by the golfers, might hit the birds flying and cause them to get injured or even lead to their deaths. Or, as a certain amateur golfer recounted, one might even run over a small animal, such as a baby turtle, to death using a cart, albeit accidentally. All of these cases are but accidents, unlike the recent one. As a result, a fan couldn’t help but point out, “Absolutely terrible. Hope they find that piece of t***h.”

The tweet shared by NUCLR GOLF mentions how Milo wasn’t sporting a threatening attitude nor was he barking at the golfer. What’s more, the pet’s owner even narrates how the neighbor saw the furry friend getting hit and the horrible shriek. A follower couldn’t help but remember the same as they highlighted how the neighbor might be able to help with the case: “Ummm… Didn’t your neighbor see this? That should help… pro shop should absolutely be able to narrow it down to 3, maybe 4 groups (prolly less).”

While Chardon Lakes Golf Course avoided taking any responsibility by refusing to pay for the damages, there were other steps that the GC’s management could have taken, such as finding out the group that was playing the hole back then. Look at the average time a group takes to play the hole and cross-check it with the hole number and the number of groups to narrow it down considerably. This is exactly what several of the fans pointed out as well; “Hey @ChardonLakesGC any update on this? You have the tee time names and can most likely coordinate times to estimate the number of players it could have been. Have you shared these names with the police? If not, why?” and “What a piece of shit! Hopefully, they find him. Should be able to track him down through T times I would think.”

Meanwhile, another golf enthusiast recommended that everyone on the course who played that day should be lined up in a police station following which Milo could recognize the individual. They commented, “Put everyone on that tee sheet in a lineup…this one can’t go unpunished.” Anyhow, after the unfortunate yet brutal incident, many in the golf world would surely be sporting the same thought: “Thank god he’s going to be okay.” Don’t you think so?
