This rescue dog needs to use a wheelchair but in her sleep she can run freely

Pani the rescue dog is paralysed and needs to use a wheelchair to walk. But when she's asleep she's as free as can be.

A TikToker named Tedi recently posted a video of her rescue dog Pani fast asleep. Dogs are often known to mimick walking or running while they dream and it appears that despite being unable to walk, Pani was walking in her dreams.

In the video the small dog lay on her side fast asleep while her back legs moved in a walking motion.

“My rescue dog Pani has been paralysed for years due to an injury she sustained before she was rescued,” Tedi wrote in the video caption.

”After years of physical therapy, and many opportunities to practice walking in the ocean sometimes in her sleep she dreams she is walking.”

Pani became paralysed from an unknown injury she sustained before Tedi adopted her. Since then Tedi has helped her undergo “extensive canine rehabilitation including physical therapy, hydrotherapy and laser therapy”.

Thankfully for Pani, the therapy has been working and despite her hind legs being “completely stiff and atrophied” when Tedi first adopted her, she is slowly gaining the ability to move them again.

“But she's never been able to regain the ability to hold her hips up on her own,” Tedi explains in the caption.

“That is why she's able to ‘walk' with her hind legs in her sleep but not when she is upright.

“So, sometimes in her sleep, when she's safe and comfy and knows she's surrounded by so much love… she dreams of walking free, just like this.”

Tedi, whose TikTok username is @tedisarah uses her platform to document her adventures with Pani and the other dogs she works with as a dog rescue volunteer worker. She is also the founder of the pet treat company Tedi's.
