Tensions are escalating in Springfield, Ohio following former US President Donald Trump’s claim that Haitian immigrants are eating cats and dogs in the small US town. The Republican presidential nominee for the November elections made the allegation during a debate with Vice President and his Democratic rival Kamala Harris on September 10. The same claim, despite being dismissed by the city officials as “rumours that are not credible” and called a “racist conspiracy theory” by analysts, has been amplified by Trump’s running mate vice presidential candidate JD Vance. The town is now facing bomb threats sending two hospitals into lockdown on September 14, as per city police. Haitian immigrants living there say they now fear for their safety.Watch for more details.00:00 – Introduction00:15 – What Trump said & Why Haitian migrants say they fear for their lives 1:44 A town on edge5:25 – Why Haitians have settled in Springfield7:11 – Not limited to Springfield
