Tragedy Strikes Guardians of Rescue When Loyal Volunteer and Animal Rescuer is Brutally Attacked

Guardians of Rescue looking for answers about brutal attack on volunteer and long-time resident of Philadelphia community

SMITHTOWN, New York – (January 9, 2024) – Dedicated volunteers help make Guardians of Rescue successful. Each week, Khaos goes to one of the most dangerous areas of Philadelphia, delivering 800 pounds of free pet food to families who need help keeping their pets fed. The families he delivers to depend on his weekly delivery, but whether or not they get their next one is in jeopardy. Right before Christmas, as he was making his daily deliveries of dog and cat food to the community, Khaos was brutally attacked and hit in the head, leaving his health and the deliveries in a state of uncertainty.

“Khaos has been an integral part of our team since the very first day Guardians of Rescue began operating,” says Rich Cantor, volunteer outreach coordinator of Guardians of Rescue. “He is an extremely dedicated and passionate volunteer who makes a difference daily in the community. He is also a friend and family to us. We are horrified by this senseless attack on him and are hoping and praying he makes a full recovery. We have received so many messages of support for him on the streets and our social media, and everyone is behind him wishing him well.”

While in the area making his usual deliveries, Khaos was attacked by being hit in the head by an unknown individual. He was urgently rushed to the hospital, where he was found to have a severe head injury. To date, he has had four brain surgeries to try and address the damage done by the force he was hit with. His future remains hopeful, but he has a long road to recovery.

Guardians of Rescue is seeking any information someone may have regarding the attack. They are also grateful to get any support they can to help with Khaos’s recovery and continue to get pet food delivered to the underserved areas of Philadelphia.

“Anyone who would like to get involved in helping Khaos or our continued mission serving these areas is welcome,” added Cantor. “We need to unite as a community and not allow such a senseless crime to go unnoticed. Our sense of compassion for each other must shine through.”
