TEHAMA COUNTY, Calif. — A lost and dehydrated dog was returned home safely thanks to aCal Fire Public Information Officer (PIO) working the Park Fire who jumped into action when they saw the struggling pup.
Cal Fire says that while on the Park Fire, one of their PIOs discovered the dog who appeared to be dehydrated and immediately gave them water and ensured it was given proper care.
A tag on the dog's collar showed a name and a phone number, thankfully the PIO was able to contact the owners and return the dog safely back home. Cal Fire says the owners felt relief and joy to be reunited with their lost animal. They say the dog's name is “Trooper”, a seemingly perfect name for the resilient pet.
“A huge thank you to our public information officers for their commitment to not just their roles, but to the well-being of every member of our community—four-legged friends included,” said Cal Fire.
