A woman was injured and two of the her pets, a dog and a cat, died in a fire Wednesday night in Lafayette.
Lafayette Fire Department responded to the house fire in the 100 block of Charles Drive at 9:24 p.m. after neighbors noticed flames coming from a bedroom window and called 911, according to officials.
When firefighters arrived on scene, first responders were informed that an elderly female was inside.
Emergency crews brought her outside and began providing medical care. Acadian Ambulance arrived on scene, continued care and transported the 69-year-old to a local hospital.
The house sustained heavy fire and smoke damage. Fire officials determined the fire originated in the bedroom.
