Upper Michigan Today took its show to the vet clinic to get to know Dr. Tracy Nyberg and take a behind-the-scenes look at her care.

Dog owners, be aware of ticks on your pets.
Dr. Nyberg says Marquette County saw the highest percentage of dogs with Lyme Disease in Michigan last year.
You should give your dog a flea and tick preventative year-round.
She adds that cats are less susceptible to the disease, but should be on a flea and tick preventative if they go outside.
Right now, the Upper Peninsula is experiencing a lack of veterinary care.
To get ahead of the need for emergency care, you should schedule yearly checkup appointments in advance- even if you’re not a pet owner just yet. If you’re seriously considering adopting a pet, Dr. Nyberg says it won’t hurt to get on a vet’s waiting list or make an appointment 6-12 months out.
