EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — The Vanderburgh Humane Society will be taking dozens of pets from Florida into its care.
On Friday, VHS will be taking on 26 dogs and 16 cats from Pinellas County Animal Services out of Florida.
VHS will be taking the pets so the shelter in Florida will have room for pets that have been displaced by Hurricanes Helene and Milton.
“By transporting animals who were available for adoption pre-storm out of the region, Pinellas County Animal Services will be better positioned to take in and care for displaced animals in their community, increasing the likelihood of reunifications,” VHS explains.
The animals from Florida will arrive at Tri-State Aero aroundon Friday, where VHS staff will be waiting to take them back to their facility for further care and eventually adoption.
The community can help out by adopting, fostering, or donating. For more information, visit vhslifesaver.org.
