Abby the dog is a star

A Vernon pet has been selected to star in a fundraising calendar.
This marks the second year in a row an animal from Vernon has made the calendar.
The stunning photo of Abby, an Australian cattle dog enjoying a beautiful fall day in Vernon, was submitted by her pet parent Val and is featured for the month of October in the 2025 Companions for Change calendar.
The image of Abby was selected from more than 43,000 entries to star in the fundraising calendar to support pets and pet parents in need.
Val says Abby is a loving and loyal companion who enjoys camping, hiking and playing fetch.
Making the calendar is a highly competitive process. The winners were determined by public vote and nearly 5.5 million votes were cast during the 15-day voting period.
In addition to Abby, the calendar contains photos of 13 other Canadian pets including dogs, cats, a hamster and a lobster.
The calendar is available in all Bosley’s by Pet Valu stores across B.C. for a give-what-you-can donation.
All donations will go to Pet Valu’s Companions for Change initiatives, which have raised more than $31 million to support Canadian animal rescues and charities in B.C. and across Canada since 2010.
