A video of a woman travelling with her pet dog in a Mumbai local train has gone viral on social media. The video, shared on Instagram, has triggered a discussion online as it showed the dog nestled in a bag with half of its body inside, while its head poked out watching the world rush by.
In the short clip, passengers aboard the train were visibly charmed by the surprise four-legged commuter. A little girl was seen gently petting the dog, while other travellers couldn’t help but smile and wave at the dog.
Despite the dog’s calm demeanour and cheerful presence, the online discourse continued to question whether the method of transport was appropriate.

The internet, as always, had mixed feelings about the video.
While several users found the sight adorable, with the calm canine enjoying the ride, others were quick to voice concerns over the dog’s comfort.
“Good but the way the dog is sitting in the bag for so long – it must be painful,” a user said, while another added, “Everything is fine, but keeping the dog in that position for an extended time is unacceptable.”

The video, which has now clocked over eight lakh views so far, sparked a split in opinions, with several users calling it harmless fun and others pointing to the potential discomfort for the pet.
But beyond the cuteness, the incident raised eyebrows regarding the rules. According to M-Indicator, a popular app for public transport information in Mumbai and Pune, pets are not allowed inside station premises or on local trains.
The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has strict rules in place that allow pets to travel only under special circumstances. Passengers must request a private cabin or coupe by writing to the station’s reservation officer to ensure their furry friends can travel in comfort.
While the video may have warmed the hearts of some commuters, it certainly served as a reminder that travelling with pets requires thoughtful planning and adherence to rules – for the well-being of both animals and their owners.
