A woman has praised an Australian airport worker for their treatment of a scared dog on the tarmac, after capturing the heartwarming moment on film.

The woman was travelling with her dog, Daphne, for the first time on a plane when she spotted her beloved pooch out of the plane window and started recording.

A Virgin Australia crew member can be seen interacting with the timid white dog inside a crate on the tarmac, waiting to be loaded up onto the plane.

The man checked Daphne’s name tag before speaking to the animal through the grate on the cage and taking a seat beside her.

He and another worker were then shown carefully escorting the pooch up the conveyor and onto the plane.

“Daphne’s first flight and my heart melted when I saw how careful they were with her,” the woman commented with the video posted to social media.

“Thank you, Virgin Australia ground staff.”

People commented on the video, calling the interaction “beautiful” and “heartwarming”.

“This is so beautiful, all the love and respect for people like this,” said one social media user.

“Looks like the puppy found a new friend,” said another.

In a similar video that went viral last year, a Virgin Australia baggage handler captured hearts across the country after a passenger filmed the moment he stopped to chat to and make sure a pet being loaded onto the plane was OK.
