Walk for Dog Guides raises more than $2,000 in Port Alberni

The Walk for Guide Dogs in Port Alberni this year raised more than $2,000.

The walk took place at Blair Park on Sunday, May 26, and members of the Alberni Valley Lions Club — which organized the walk — said they were “very pleased” to have an increase in participants compared to last year’s walk.

Bosley’s Port Alberni, which sponsored the event, raised more than $2,000 with the help of their clients. The Lions Club donated $500, while an additional $100 came from online donations and $200 came from participants on the day of the walk.

The Lions Club provided hot dogs and Bosley’s brought treats for the pets.

Money raised will go towards the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides, which helps to provide Dog Guides to Canadians with disabilities at no charge.

The next Alberni Valley Lions Club project will be the Bullhead Derby, slated for this Aug. 24.
