Walmart announced the latest benefit for its Walmart+ subscribers through a partnership with Pawp telehealth veterinary services. The retail giant said Walmart+ subscribers will have access to complimentary 24/7 virtual health services for their pets later this year.

Walmart+ initially piloted Pawp as a limited-time offer last year, knowing that over 75% of its members are pet owners. The pet telehealth service gained popularity among members as a platform connecting pet owners with veterinary professionals at any hour day or night.

“At Pawp, our mission is to make high quality, convenient pet care accessible to a much larger part of the population and, for over a year now, Walmart+ has been an incredible partner in helping us realize this vision,” said Pawp CEO Marc Atiyeh, CEO of Pawp. “We’re excited to deepen this relationship by incorporating Pawp as an ongoing, first-of-its-kind pet health benefit for Walmart+ and look forward to supporting Walmart+ members with their pet care for years to come.”

Pawp typically sells its telehealth members for $99 per year but will be complimentary for Walmart+ members who pay $98 a year or $12.95 per month for Plus benefits which include fuel and travel discounts, unlimited free deliveries, free returns from home and access to Paramount+ streaming.

The petcare announcement comes during National Pet Appreciation Month. The American Pet Products Association forecasts U.S. consumers will spend $150.6 billion on their pets this year, up 2.45% from last year. Pet owners spent $38.5 billion on veterinary care last year, compared to the $39.1 billion expected to be spent in 2024, according to NPPA.
