Two firefighters were injured and taken to the hospital. One of them was admitted to Chilton Medical Center in Pompton Plains with a leg injury. </p><p class="gnt_ar_b_p">The family occupying the house was not at home when the fire broke out. Fire companies 3 and 5 were dispatched initially and company 2 was added to the call when visible flames were seen coming from the building, Velardi said.</p><p class="gnt_ar_b_p">The fire houses attending to the emergency were backfilled with mutual aid from Lincoln Park, Pequannock and Pompton Lakes. </p><figure class="gnt_em gnt_em_img"><img class="gnt_em_img_i" style="height:495px" fetchpriority="high" data-g-r="lazy" src="https://pets.einnews.com/gcdn/authoring/authoring-images/2024/05/05/PNJM/73579677007-microsoft-teamsimage-50.png?width=660&height=495&fit=crop&format=pjpg&auto=webp" decoding="async" alt="A house fire on 52 Lenox Road in Wayne Township in Passaic County Saturday night left a pet dead and injured two firefighters."/></figure><p class="gnt_ar_b_p">Fire units cleared the scene at around 1:50 a.m. Sunday, Velardi said.
