WCF’s Pet & Equestrian stores in Cumbria host celebration weekend

The event will be held at different locations over the last weekend of September and the first day of October.

Aimed at dog owners, pets can indulge in a dog-friendly afternoon tea, complimentary goodie bags and a special selfie stand.

The afternoon tea includes doggie ice cream and Pawsecco among other treats.

Free pet nutrition advice and one-to-one sessions for solving common pet problems round out the itinerary.

The in-store events will take place at the Cockermouth store on September 29, the Penrith store on September 30, and at the Ulverston store on October 1.

Funds raised over the weekend will aid Lake District Mountain Rescue Search Dogs, a charity that trains and deploys dogs to search for missing people on the Cumbrian fells.

Individual stores will also raise money for their own chosen charity of the year.

The event marks the launch of WCF’s dry dog food, The Lakes Collection, a nod to the company’s Cumbrian legacy and tie to the Lake District.

The brand includes four products: Lakes Legacy, Lakes Heritage, Lakes Established and Lakes Pioneer.

Crafted in the UK using sustainably sourced ingredients, the food is high in quality proteins, contains naturally sourced vitamins and minerals, and carries no artificial colours or preservatives.

Pop-up shops for local artists and entrepreneurs will feature at each location along with a free lottery for WCF vouchers and the chance to win the title of WCF’s next Top Canine Model.

Jade Earley, General Manager of WCF Pet & Equestrian, said: “Our team are all passionate about animals and will be on hand to share their knowledge and expert tips on pet care, as well as saying hello to owners and their dogs, who can enjoy the extra special treats we have especially for them.

“The events aim to celebrate everything we love about dogs, as well as marking WCF’s intrinsic links with the Lake District and Cumbria, which were established more than 100 years ago when the company was founded in the county.

“By supporting Lake District Mountain Rescue Search Dogs, we are able to give something back in recognition of the brilliant work they do.”

The launch events will take place between 10am-4pm.

Future launch events are also planned for WCF’s two other Cumbrian stores at Carlisle and Wigton.
