The first hairless cat, Prune, was found in the early 1900s in Mexico.

Her offspring were also hairless, but breeders didn’t initially recognize it as a potential breed.

In the 1950s, Nudie, another hairless furball in Canada, was discovered.

Breeders started breeding it with other cats, creating the popular Sphynx breed.

Hairless cats breeding

Breeding hairless cats purely for appearance raises ethical concerns.

Inbreeding and selective breeding can result in harmful genetic issues.

These cats are more prone to skin infections and sunburn.

Some breeders prioritize appearance over health, sparking debates about cat treatment.

Owners of these cats argue their pets lead happy lives despite these concerns.
