Why you should never let your dog eat yucca

Yucca plants typically have long, pointed leaves and white flowers.

Eating yucca is not fatal in small amounts, but it is toxic to dogs due to steroidal saponins.

Steroidal saponins can cause stomach irritation and, in large doses, affect the central nervous system.

If your dog consumes yucca, it’s essential to seek immediate veterinary attention.

Dangers of eating yucca

If your dog eats yucca, go to the vet immediately and bring a piece of the plant for identification.

Inform the vet about the yucca part consumed and the amount.

The vet will conduct a physical exam, lab tests, and may use an endoscopy or electrocardiogram.

Imaging tests like X-rays may be performed.
