HURRICANE, W.Va. (WCHS) — A woman in West Virginia is facing charges after police said she admitted to killing a pet lizard during a dispute with her significant other.
Hannah Nicole Jones of Hurricane is charged with domestic battery and animal cruelty in connection with an incident early Wednesday, according to a criminal complaint filed in Putnam County Magistrate Court.
It said police originally responded to an apartment complex after getting a report of a domestic dispute.
They found a man who said Jones hit him with a curtain rod.
The man said their verbal argument turned physical after he called her a derogatory name, the complaint said.
Police said Jones admitted to throwing flower pots against the wall, busting a fish tank, and taking a pet gecko — putting it in a garbage disposal — and turning it on.
Bond for Jones, 19, was set at $10,000.
