HELPER, Utah (KUTV) — A dog is receiving veterinary care after a woman found it shot and stranded on the side of the road in Carbon County.

According to the woman, the dog was shot in between the eyes.
As of Saturday, it made it through surgery, and two bullets have been removed.

Tanner Tamllos and her family found the dog dumped near Helper on Friday.
She said she can’t believe anyone would do this to such a harmless creature.

Tamllos said at first, she believed the dog had been attacked by an animal.
She found out later at the vet's office the dog was shot, and a bullet was found in its throat.

"There’s no excuse to just shoot this dog and leave it.
So, if that person is watching this — you’re a horrible person," Tamllos said.
"Pets have a brain, they have a beating heart.
They bleed red just like humans."

She said he’s doing better for now, but another surgery will be conducted on Saturday to remove his eye.

Those wishing to donate to the dog's care may Venmo Tamllos @tannermckenzie.

Other donation information can be found on Tamllos' Facebook page here.
