Portland ranks as one of the dog-friendliest cities in the country. It makes sense: The city has plenty of parks to explore with your pup and large outdoor patios that invite you to drink and snack with your four-legged friend by your side.

But a few places stand out not for just being dog-friendly, but for being dog-obsessed. Here are 5 Portland spots that go above and beyond to pamper your pet:

Hotel Rose in Portland touts itself as “dog-obsessed.” Your pup will be pampered with treats, their own bed, a collapsible water bowl and more. (Vickie Connor/Vickie Connor/The Oregonian)

This downtown hotel near the waterfront touts itself as being dog-obsessed. Owned by Staypineapple, the hotel charges $30 extra per night (or save money via the “pineapple pup package”) if you’re bringing your furry friend. You’ll be greeted with a sign bearing your dog’s name in the lobby and a big jar of treats. Inside your room, your dog can sleep soundly on a bright yellow pet bed. You’ll also get a collapsible water bowl, treats and poop bags with a dispenser, all yours to keep. While many hotels require that you do not leave your dog along in the room, Hotel Rose is the exception. Before you leave your dog and head out to explore, place a special placard on the room’s door handle to let staff and housekeepers know not to enter. Let the front desk know your phone number in case of emergencies.

Tin Shed is known for its mouth-watering breakfast menu as well as its large outdoor, covered patio. Dogs are not only welcome, but encouraged. Tin Shed was even ranked by Yelp as the No. 1 restaurant in the country for dining with your dog. There is a special section on the menu called “for the pups.” Fido Food translates to chicken thighs and sweet potatoes, while Doggie Dessert blends bananas, peanut butter and yogurt, topped with a crunch treat. When you purchase one of Tin Shed’s doggie bandanas, proceeds go to Family Dogs New Life. Return visits with your pup in the bandana bring a 50% off discount on their meal.

Details: 1438 N.E. Alberta St., Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., www.tinshedgardencafe.com

Cycle Dog is a tavern and dog park in Portland that also sells gear for your pup made from recycled bike tubes. (Vickie Connor/Vickie Connor/The Oregonian)

Grab a drink while your furry companion romps around in either the indoor or outdoor group play areas of this tavern and storefront. Cycle Dog is known for its dog products built from recycled bike tubes. Browse the different collars, dog beds, water bowls and more. Be sure to read the rules and make a play reservation for your dog ahead of time.
