Couple Demand Refund From Airline After Sitting Next to Gassy, Snorting Dog for 13-Hour Flight

A couple is demanding a refund from Singapore Airlines after a dog ruined their long-haul flight.

Emotional support dog ruins flight

The pair were on board Singapore Airlines from Paris to New Zealand when they found themselves sitting next to a noisy emotional support dog.

According to Independent, Gill and Warren Press had booked premium economy seats but could not enjoy the flight as the dog passed gas and made uncomfortable noises.

“I heard this noise, a heavy snorting,” Gill told Stuff. “I thought it was my husband’s phone, but we looked down and realised it was the dog breathing.”

Dog was smelly and unbearable

The couple reportedly asked the flight crew if they could have their seats switched. Unfortunately, the only available seats were at the back of the plane in economy class.

Gill and Warren noted that halfway through the flight, the dog's odour made the flight unbearable.

The dog's owner reportedly could not put the dog in the plane's aisle as flight attendants could not get the trolleys through.

“My husband was in shorts and was getting the dog’s saliva goo on his leg,” Gill said.

She emailed a complaint to the airline and was offered travel vouchers worth R4 398.98, Displeased, Gill stated the offer was unacceptable and demanded a full refund.

She said:

“We didn’t receive the experience we paid for.”

Singapore Airlines, through its spokesperson, said the carrier contacted the couple.

“We sincerely apologise that this did not occur in this case, and will work with our airport teams to ensure that this lapse does not occur in future,” the airline said.

Anti-pitbull foundation says the dogs should not be kept as pets

In another story, Briefly News reported that an anti-pit bull foundation is calling for a ban on the domestication of pit bulls in South Africa.

The Sizwe Kupelo Foundation is urging the South African government to chemically castrate all male pit bulls and sterilise females to curb the breeding of the “deadly' dogs. The foundation has also started an online petition for the government to outlaw the ownership of pit bulls as domestic animals entirely.
