ZANESVILLE, OH – The Animal Shelter Society is wagging its tail with excitement to spotlight Barkley as the Pet of the Week.
Barkley is a charming, yet snarky, 2-year-old schnauzer. With his distinctive personality and a look that could melt hearts, Barkley is on the lookout for a home without other pets.
“He would like to be the only animal in the house because he likes to be the king. He gets kind of snarly with some other dogs that we have here. He likes to ride in the car, he doesn’t mind a bath, but he does like the be the only animal.” Animal Shelter Society Executive Director, April Gibson said.
Throughout the month of April, in an effort to encourage more pet owners to microchip their pets, the shelter is offering special promotion; microchips for just $20. It’s a small price to pay for the peace of mind it brings, ensuring that pets can find their way back to their loving homes if they ever get lost.
“Microchipping is one of the best things you can do for you animal besides spaying and neutering. We can get these animals back home. We deal with microchips every week and we’re able to get the animal back to their owners. Things happen. They can get loose, they break a leash, or something of that nature.” Gibson said.
