dental hygiene – Houston Public Media

Every month, Houston Matters goes to the dogs…and cats, as we welcome your questions about the care and feeding of your canine and feline friends, for veterinarian Dr. Lori Teller from the Meyerland Animal Clinic and Texas A&M University.

In this month’s conversation, Dr. Teller shares some advice on how to maintain good dental hygiene for your pets, ahead of National Pet Dental Health Care month in February.

In the audio above, she talks with Houston Matters host Craig Cohen about specialized toothpaste for pets, why you should not use toothpaste for humans on your dogs or cats, and the dubious benefits of a ‘flossing bone.’

Plus, they discuss Houstonians’ questions about medicating an excitable dog and the dangers of rawhide. And they talk about dogs and cats and allergies.

We welcome your questions for Dr. Teller, anytime. E-mail them to us at talk@houstonmatters.org, and then listen to our monthly conversations with her, usually on the third Monday of each month.
