PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) – After four years outside the neighborhood stray dog has finally found it’s furever home and now has a name of her own. An Elk Township family named her “Pretty Girl”.
“This dog has been out here for probably four years. Probably close to it. She started down the road for a long time and finally she kept working her way up and we started feeding her up here and kept talking to her and playing with her and we got her where she is today,” said Owners, Roy and Deborah Erb.
The dog was found after her brother was found caught in a snare. With the dog obviously very frightened the Erb’s showed love the best way they know how and that is with food.
The family kept feeding the dog after seeing it run in and out of the woods for weeks. It has now progressed to where it has now.
“Now we can pet her and everything else before you couldn’t touch her or nothing because she was bad,” said Roy.
After gaining their trust the dog chose to sleep under the rubble of an old barn on the property.
After the family created a small home for it in the pig pen the dog slept in comfort after years of sleepless nights.
“She’ll sleep in the pig pen or right on the porch. The next step is bringing it inside for us and we’re almost there,” said Erb.
The dog has just come to the porch at the beginning of March but “Pretty Girl” has gone from living under rubble to being the dog of a loving family.
