MONROE, N.C. (WBTV) – A dog was killed in a Monroe house fire Thursday afternoon, according to officials.
The fire happened around 3:45 p.m. along Memory Lane near Lancaster Avenue.
Firefighters say they quickly knocked down the fire; however, they found two dogs inside the home. Reports stated that one of those dogs was administered oxygen through a pet mask and rushed to a veterinarian’s office, and the other did not survive.
Nobody else was home during the fire, officials advised.
Officials said the residents were displaced, the structure received ‘moderate damage,’ and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
