Downtown Evansville to welcome new dog park near Ingle Street

A new dog park is coming to Evansville so your furry friend will be able to enjoy the Downtown area.

Sponsored by Earthborn Holistic Pet Nutrition, the small-scale dog park will be located at the intersection of Ingle and Third streets. Construction has begun, according to the Downtown Evansville Economic Improvement District.

The free park will include small agility items, benches and a dog waste station, while the Downtown Evansville Economic Improvement District will have responsibility for upkeep and maintenance. While Earthborn Holistic Pet Nutrition − a brand produced by Evansville-based Midwestern Pet Foods − is the primary sponsor, other sponsors are to be named later at an unveiling.

“The space is within feet of hundreds of pet-loving Downtown households and hundreds of hotel rooms,” said Downtown Evansville Economic Improvement District Executive Director Adam Trinkel in the news release. “We are thrilled to bring this quality-of-place amenity to Downtown, and thank our sponsors for their support.”

As the Evansville Water and Sewer Utility owns the land but leases it out, they are continuing to improve the stormwater system and plan to use the park’s underground area for a large water-holding tank by 2037.
