East Bay pets of the week for Jan. 12

I’m Kiwi! I’m a vibrant 2-year-old girl that’s the perfect balance of sweet with a little bit of zing! I’m an active girl who loves to run around and play fetch, but watch me sit and learn commands because I am so smart! I’m also super sweet, so bring on the pets and belly rubs and I’ll gladly share my affection with licks and tail wags! I can’t wait to be part of your life. Visit the website of the Berkeley-East Bay Humane Society at berkeleyhumane.org to learn more and schedule a meeting with me.

Say hello to Kimya, a devoted 4-year-old American Pit Bull Terrier with a heartwarming demeanor in search of a loving household that will provide the attention she deserves. While she adores humans, she prefers to be the sole furry friend in the household.

She’s ready to share her expressive personality and fill your life with love and companionship. Her adoption fee is waived! The East Bay SPCA offers walk-in adoptions at its Oakland and Dublin campuses from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. For updated and real-time information on EBSPCA programs and offerings, visit eastbayspca.org/adoptions.

Mindy is a peach of a smiling dog. The 1-year-old Dogo Argentino LOVES people, and seems good with other dogs. On walks she’s still a little unsure of her surroundings (she’s new to us), but when Mindy comes across a person who is friendly to her, she becomes calmly joyful and sweetly affectionate. Kind, friendly people anchor her innate happiness. To meet this pet at Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter, call 510-337-8565 or visit alamedaanimalshelter.org/adopt.

LIttle Makita is as finely wrought as her namesake, power tools made by the renowned Japanese firm. She, too, was found at a local Home Depot store. Our beautiful calico kitten is a gem: adventurous, curious, observant, playful and loving. To meet her email DanaCC4C@gmail.com. Community Concern for Cats now holds weekend adoption events at Pet Food Express stores in Walnut Creek and Martinez along with our regular location at 1250-H Newell Ave. in Walnut Creek. Visit communityconcernforcats.org for more information.

Rufus is the best pup and his favorite thing to do is cuddle on the couch with his people. He’s incredibly sweet, loves belly rubs and is very goofy. Rufus is well mannered, loves walks, is smart and learns commands quickly. He already knows sit, crate, stay, and wait! Contact the staff at Milo Point Richmond for assistance from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. except Tuesdays at 220 S. Garrard Blvd. in Richmond. Our dedicated staff is on duty every day caring for our animals and have saved more than 39,000 lives in 28 years. For more details, visit milofoundation.org/contact-us.

This big guy is a happy, good-looking pit bull. Bolo doesn’t know how cute he looks because he’s blind, and he’s been so since birth. He almost lost his life because of his “special needs” but we rescued him just in time. We’re looking for a home for him where he can be the only dog. If you have experience with blind animals we’d love to tell you about him. For more information about this or any other adoptable pets with the Contra Costa SPCA, call Pat at 925-323-0667.
