It’s not such a beautiful thing when a toxic flower eaten by your dog or cat results in them vomiting, pooping, or worse.
Luckily, the folks at Trusted Housesitters, the leading travel solution for looking to have their pets looked after while they’re away, partnered with veterinarians to uncover the flowers that pose the biggest risk them. Floral arrangements containing these toxic beauties can actually turn deadly for your fur baby.
Avoid a trip to your pet’s vet by keeping the following five kinds of flowers away from your dog/cat. Also listed below are five flowers that are safe to keep around your pets.
#5. Carnations
#4. Tulips
#3. Hydrangeas
#2. Daffodils
#1. Lillies
While highly toxic to cats AND dogs, Lillies were the flower most responsible for cat visits to the vet in 2023.
According to certified veterinarian, Amanda Takiguchi, DVM, “Even eating a small amount of this flower can cause deadly kidney failure in cats. Multiple species of lilies are toxic to cats, so it’s best to avoid lilies altogether.”
Keeping flowers in mind that are healthy and unhealthy for your dog is a good thing for when walking them in your neighborhood or planting your own flower gardens.
1. Sunflowers
2. Petunias
3. Pansies
