‘Our kids absolutely loved it’ praise parents as major high street chain offers FREE pet workshops for the whole family

A MAJOR high street chain is offering free pet workshops for the entire family, with parents saying their kids loved it.

My Pet Pals workshops are already underway at Pets at Home and are due to run until April 14.

The free 45-minute sessions are billed as “free family fun” and will introduce the benefits of keeping fish as pets.

There are also activities to involve the whole family too.

Those taking part can watch how the fish swim and learn some fun facts about them and also get stuck in to some crafts and colouring.

The ad says: “Our My Pet Pals workshops help to teach children how rewarding pets can be and how to care for them, making sure you and your children are all clued up on pet welfare and responsible pet ownership – you’ll get a truly hands-on approach to pet care.”

Kids taking part will get activity sheets, a My Pet Pals certificate, and there is a chance to meet some amazing animals.

The events are recommended for kids aged four and over.

Details of the freebie events was posted to a bargains group on Facebook where one mum was suitably impressed.

She wrote: “Took my boys to our local one today, they absolutely loved it, got to hold and feed a few Guinea pigs, and a very tiny hamster, then feed the fish, going to book again for next half term.”

It’s not the first time the high street pet chain has held these events with mums previously praising the activities on another Facebook group in August last year.

One said: “We did this at our local store yesterday too.

“There were only 3 kids including ours booked on.

“They fed the fish. Held guinea pigs and rabbits and also got to touch various snakes.

“Really lovely session and bonus it’s totally free.”

Another parent praised: “The best fun is free sometimes.”

A third commented: “Thank you for sharing this. Just booked my little boy one for this afternoon.”

Pets At Home has more than 450 stores nationwide and sells a variety of pet supplies and small animals, including hamsters and rabbits.

The chain revealed last year plans to open 40 new stores over the next five years.

A list of locations is yet to be finalised, but Pets at Home told The Sun that the majority will be within the M25 and in urban areas.
