“Wiggle, snuggle, give kisses, and love everyone”; is the motto of today’s Pet of the Week, Mary! Mary is an approximately 5-month-old Black Lab mix who is the epitome of everything we love about Labrador Retrievers! Mary and her sister Sue arrived at Green Hills Animal Shelter at only about 8 weeks old after being found in a storm drain. Both Mary and Sue were very cold and wet, very skinny and very, very hungry. But despite their condition, Mary and Sue immediately settled into life at the shelter where their loving personalities charmed staff, volunteers, and everyone who met them. Sue has recently been adopted, but Mary is still waiting for and dreaming of a home of her own.
Mary is a charming puppy who is amazingly sweet. She loves everyone she meets! Adults, children, other dogs, cats … everyone is her very best friend! Mary is also very playful and loves to go outside and play in the shelter play yard. She walks well on a leash and rides well in the car, so she is more than ready to go on great adventures with her family. She is very smart and eager to please, and she loves getting hugs and giving kisses! And, at only 17 pounds at 5 months old, we think Mary will remain a medium-sized dog and not be much bigger than 40 or 50 pounds when she is fully grown.
If Mary could describe her perfect Forever Home, she would ask to be an indoor dog with a family who will include her in all their activities. She would love to spend her days playing with her family and her evenings cuddled with them on the couch. Car rides and long, leashed walks are on Mary’s wish list (she walks great on her leash and rides like a pro!), and a securely fenced yard where she could run off some of her puppy energy would also make her very happy. Mary would be quite content to share her home with children, another canine, or perhaps even a kitty friend.
Mary will go to her Forever Home spayed, dewormed, heartworm tested, and up to date on all vaccinations including rabies. She is the most loving, loyal companion any family could ever hope to have; could you make her dream of a Forever Home come true?
