HENDERSON, Ky. (WFIE) – The U.S. Department of Defense hosted a Medical Mission in Western Kentucky in an effort to help those with pets.
Pet owners and their furry friends made their way to the Henderson County Fairgrounds for free vet services.
The event was exclusively for cats and dogs.
The event provided exams and vaccines which included shots for rabies, feline leukemia and much more.
Some pet owners said despite a long wait, it was worth it.
”Oh very helpful. Saves a lot of money. It’s been a long wait really, but it’s easy right here I guess. I don’t know,” said pet owner Will McClelland.
These services were a part of the Department of Defense’s Innovative Readiness Training medical mission where they provided medical, dental, optical and veterinary care to residents in Western Kentucky this summer.
