Pet therapy event held on campus

This past Tuesday, April 16, therapy dogs visited the Madison College Truax Campus to spend time with students and staff. The visit was organized by Peer Health Educators to give the Madison College community a chance to de-stress, particularly before the upcoming finals week.

The dogs Millie, Bailey, Yahtzhee, and Harper, spent the early afternoon as the center of attention, spreading happiness to everyone passing through the Truax Gateway area.

Therapy dogs like those that visited campus are different from service dogs, who are trained to help people with specific disabilities. Instead, their role is to provide comfort and affection to people other than their handlers. They have been shown to have a positive impact on people’s mood and stress levels and can even reduce the severity of depression and anxiety.

The Peer Health Educators have planned several other events in the remaining weeks of the spring semester, details for which can be found on Wolfpack Connect.
