Pets of the week: Copper loves to snuggle. Robin Hood is as dashing as his namesake

JACKSON, MI – Copper and Robin Hood are just two of the many pets at Cascades Humane Society that are looking for loving forever homes.

Copper is an adorable-as-they-come dog that still looks like a puppy. At just about 1½ years old, this guy still has some growing and maturing to do, but he has already learned so much. He knows “sit,” “down,” “come” and “stay.”

Copper loves to snuggle with humans and he gets exuberantly excited to meet new people. He loves stuffies and has been trained to walk on a loose leash. CHS staff thinks Copper would do best in a home with no other furry pets and no small children.

Copper has been brought up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, neutered and has tested negative for heartworm.

Robin Hood is a dashing 1-year-old feline on a quest for his forever kingdom.

Robin Hood is not your average cat – he’s the epitome of laid-back coolness. Sporting a sleek coat of solid gray fur, he’s as handsome as they come. But it’s his charming personality that truly steals hearts. This cool cat has a soft spot for treats – watch him pounce with precision to secure his snacks.

While Robin Hood may take his time warming up to new pals, a gentle touch and slow pets will win him over in no time. When he’s not busy enjoying treats, Robin Hood can be found lounging by the window, surveying his kingdom or satisfying his scratching instincts on a trusty scratching post. Plus, he’s got experience living with other cats, so he’s ready to join a feline-friendly household.

Robin Hood comes fully equipped for his new adventure, as he’s neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped and has tested negative for FIV and FeLV.

If you think Copper or Robin Hood could be your next perfect, furry family member (or members), then please stop in for a visit. Cascades Humane Society, 1515 Carmen Drive, is open noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

All dogs and cats at Cascade Humane Society have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and given parasite protection prior to adoption. Those who adopt pets also receive a free wellness checkup from any of 24 area veterinarians.

Dog owners wishing to adopt another dog are required to do a meet and greet with their dog and the dog they’re choosing to adopt.

CHS also has added services to its Spay and Neuter Assistance Program. The service, available during scheduled spay or neuter surgeries, includes vaccines, heartworm testing for dogs, FIV and FeLV testing for cats and dental procedures.

CHS also has a Pet Food Pantry to help families going through financial hardship. CHS accepts cat or dog food donations, as long as the food is in its original packaging. Donors can drop off food by the pole barn behind the facility. The Pet Food Pantry is open from noon to 2 p.m. on the first Saturday of the month.

Those considering adopting Copper, Robin Hood or another pet can apply to do so here. Adoptable pets can be viewed at www.chspets.org. For more information, call 517-787-7387.
