The Switch 2 was released only a few weeks ago, and many fans have been sinking their teeth into the impressive new console. While physically similar to the original Nintendo Switch, the new model boasts impressive graphical and spec improvements, and enhancements to gameplay and features, thanks to adjustments to capabilities in things like the camera, the Joy-Cons, and even the console itself. Players have begun finding ways to exploit these features in fun and creative ways, and one such discovery comes from the console’s exclusive version of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Tears of the Kingdom Switch 2 Exclusive Offers Joyful Summoning
Switch 2 upgrades of Switch 1 games have actually been a pretty big bone of contention for Nintendo fans. Most upgrades have cost around $10, including the upgrade for Tears of the Kingdom, despite most games having minimal changes outside of graphical updates and, for a few, minor content updates. At first, fans were having a hard time making the cost palatable. The graphic and framerate updates are nice, and the Zelda Notes app offered some fun new content, but was that really enough? That was, until a new exploit was discovered by players, and that exploit involved hordes of dogs. Who does not want to summon endless puppies, after all?
Thanks to “Can You Pet the Dog” on X, we now know the details of this intriguing Switch 2 exploit. Yes, the page exclusively tracks animals that can be pet across the gaming industry. And no, the doggos in Tears of the Kingdom are sadly not petable. However, you can summon endless amounts of them, as well as horses, Ganon, Cuckoos, and anything found in the game, essentially.
As Games Radar shares, “Nintendo Life also explains that you’ll need a modded save file and access to a modded Switch 1 console, plus the base game, before you carry your data over to the Switch 2 version. Then you’ll need to find a QR code online hosting whatever item or character it is you want to summon.”
Once you have the prerequisites, you can summon to your heart’s content! And to think, we almost thought the $10 Switch 2 upgrade would not be worth it. Nintendo (accidentally and absolutely not intentionally) showed us! Thank you, auto build share.
Final Thoughts
All jokes aside, the pricing for an upgrade still seems a bit much, although the reality is, prices in the gaming industry will continue to go up, as they have since the start, thanks to inflation. Still, this summoning exploit is pretty fun and opens the opportunity for a great deal of chaos and hilarity. Expect memes galore as fans come up with more and more clever and absurd ideas. Never underestimate the creativity of a gamer! Switch 2 may not have intended this, but ultimately, the free publicity can only work to help them find even greater success.
